OSP Mainline Construction Operator

Job Summary
Responsible for the safe operation of various powered equipment needed to complete mainline material installations.
Essential Job Functions

  • Align and work in compliance with industry safety standards from OSHA and the North Carolina Department of Transportation
  • Responsible for maintaining work area, minimizing hazards, and following all safety guidance required by Yadtel and standard industry safety practices.
  • Perform routine labor operations
  • Prepare and manipulate heavy equipment to ensure appropriate movement of materials required for job
  • Understand how to read project drawings and specs
  • Responsible for the safe hauling of equipment, safe digging in high traffic areas, and ROW
  • Assess each work site and make appropriate decisions about soil types, shoring, bracing, and sloping to ensure the best job/project results
  • Maintain open communications with all departments, crews, contractors, and clients to ensure proper and timely completion of projects
  • Fuel, grease, and maintain general operation of equipment
  • Responsible for understanding and creating appropriate cuts, fills, and grading
  • Perform a variety of technical duties that must be handled within standards of accuracy based on ongoing, changing conditions specific to each project
  • Provide required instruction, training, and basic supervision to team
  • Ensure restoration of job site to original state per NCDOT and/or property owner specifications.
  • Work an on-call, varying, or rotating job schedule
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to troubleshoot/resolve technical issues
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge appropriately based on variables with equipment and environment
  • Ability to walk, stand, lift, and carry materials of up to 50 pounds over extended periods of time
  • Basic computer skills
  • Maintain and develop knowledge of industry, equipment, systems, and processes through ongoing training
  • Ability to operate various hand/power tools and safely operate heavy construction equipment.  I.E.  Directional drill rigs, Vibratory or Drop plow, Trenchers, Conventional Boring, backhoe, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle and maintain Valid NC Driver License
  • Knowledge of general industry OSHA regulations
  • Ability to work in all types of environments and weather conditions
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Outside Plant mainline construction experience, 3 years plus
  • Heavy Equipment experience and license
  • Active Class A CDL
