Founded in 1959, the Home Builders Association of Winston-Salem (HBAWS) is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the North Carolina Home Builders Association (NCHBA). As a professional, non-profit trade association, we aim to advocate for and advance the local housing industry and the professionals working within it.
HBAWS serves over 640 members, including builders, remodelers, developers, and a wide range of associate organizations and businesses connected to the building industry.
Position Description:
The Membership Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring a positive membership experience and supporting the growth of the association. This position involves managing membership processes, member engagement, financial record-keeping, and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about fostering strong relationships within the association.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process new membership applications and renewals efficiently and accurately.

  • Oversee new member orientation and ensure smooth onboarding.

  • Implement membership recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies to grow and sustain an active membership base.

  • Serves as the staff liaison for the Membership & Spike Club and Associate Members Committee, assisting with coordination, meeting preparation, and committee initiatives.

  • Prepare and maintain monthly membership reports, tracking membership trends and metrics.

  • Manage the member database, ensuring all information is current and accurate.

  • Assist members with login issues and provide technical support for database access.

  • Process membership and event invoices, ensuring timely deposits using QuickBooks Online.

  • Manage the collection of past-due invoices, maintaining accurate records of payments.

  • Assist with CE registrations, managing rosters, distributing member packets, emailing certificates of completion to participants and report to NCBI and NCLBGC

  • Serve as the primary contact for incoming calls in the absence of staff, handling inquiries in a timely and professional manner, and directing callers to the appropriate team members as required.

  • Greet visitors to the office in a friendly and professional manner, helping and directing them to the appropriate staff.

  • Sort and distribute incoming mail to relevant staff members in a timely manner.

  • Prepare and arrange the HBAWS Conference Room for committee, Board of Director meetings and other events as needed. This task will be assigned to part-time staff once hired.

  • Work closely with the Marketing & Events Director to promote membership-driven initiatives, events, and communication efforts.

  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Vice President to support the overall operations and success of the association.

  • Experience in membership management

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Outstanding interpersonal and member service abilities

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks online

  • Ability to work effectively in a small team setting

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

  Compensation Details:

  • Full time salaried position.

  • Salary: $40,000-$50,000
